This installation is the second phase of my system: Atmospheric Mechanism appears. It presents the series Repetition, begun in 2020: black concrete sculptures made from a lost-wax cast of my body, on a 40 × 40 cm base corresponding to the width of my shoulders. The wax takes the shape of my body and then melts, and the concrete fills the space it leaves: each sculpture records the space my body occupies and the space it will leave. The series comprises 25 sculptures, which divide the total space of my body, the 1.80 m volume of Fifth of September, into 25 units. Two are presented here, between mirrors. 

Each sculpture carries two dates and their coordinates: those of its making and those of the climate it receives. Repetition #3/25, made in Monterrey on 10 April 2021, receives the climate of Glasgow on 2 December 2021, the day of the first snow of the year in Glasgow, and the first I saw there. 

Developed during my master's at the Glasgow School of Art, the installation is the first to use the Atmospheric Mechanism, an Arduino-controlled system of fog, smoke, water and light. It reproduces in Mexico City the atmospheric conditions of the dates carried by the sculptures. Like the magnetic tape in William S. Burroughs' work, the mechanism replays a recorded segment of time, here a day of climate, in another place. The weather data of these days is drawn on the wall. When humidified, the concrete releases salt and gradually turns from black to white. 

At the same time, at the MFA Interim Show at the Glasgow School of Art, I present a model of the Atmospheric Mechanism and a real-time video of the exhibition in Mexico City. The conditions of Glasgow are reproduced in Mexico City, and the exhibition in Mexico City is shown in Glasgow. 

The title is borrowed from James Joyce's Ulysses. 

In Fifth of September (2019), water transformed the concrete. With (change of state), the climate of another place becomes the agent of this transformation, and the exhibition is displaced from one site to another. From this work onward, a date and its climate determine each installation. The series was conceived to bring the 25 sculptures together in a single space, each with its own Atmospheric Mechanism and its own date.
